JEE Main 2018 Questions Similar to Narayana Coaching Academy’s 2016 Mock Paper

New Delhi, April 11: The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2018 which was conducted on April 8, Sunday saw a set of  questions which were identical to the ones asked in a 2016 mock question paper set up by a Hyderabad-headquartered coaching institute, Narayana Coaching Academy. The information went viral soon after a message stating the same got circulated on Tuesday evening.

As many as nine questions were identical from Set C in the Physics section. Such was the similarity, that even the values of some problems were same as that of the questions asked in the coaching’s 2016 mock paper. Elucidating on this, students said that question numbers 64, 67, 77, 78, 81, 83, 86 and 87 were exactly similar to those in the mock paper, out of which, answers of four questions were alike.

Meanwhile, the coaching officials when contacted remained equally alarmed at the similarity in the questions and said that they believed someone was trying to malign the institute’s name. Narayana Coaching Academy’s IIT coordinator Ashok Kumar Veda said that a team at the institute was probing the matter. Other coaching institutes too  have raised concerns over this issue and have demanded an investigation for the same.

After this information came to light, a few students complained to the CBSE about the defaulter. CBSE which is already at the end of receiving flak after the Board papers leak is now looking into the matter.  Speaking on the grave issue which is a cause of concern, CBSE public relations officer Rama Sharma said, “We have received a word on this and the director has been alerted. We are awaiting a statement from him.”

The JEE Main 2018 which was held on Sunday, will have its answer key released by April 24. More than 10.43 lakh candidates took the prestigious examination for getting admission into the premium engineering colleges. The JEE Advanced paper will be held on May 20.
